Description

Five-axis pinch/peel cylindrical grinding machine by Rollomatic SA (Le Landeron, Switzerland) for blank preparation of cutting tools, punches, micro drills, mould and ejector pins. The machine comes with the original 2010 Rollomatic factory invoice issued for this machine — it documents the version, drives, axis travels and the equipment supplied with it. Configuration with 90° roughing spindle, GE FANUC 320iA with eight axes and an integrated three-axis loading robot for up to 1,000 blanks. Glass scales on the roughing and finishing axes with 0.00005 mm resolution, PerfectArbor wheel mount and monoblock shank guide. The machine ran at a cutting tool manufacturer in southern Germany on a central oil coolant system — a dedicated filtration/chiller unit and an extraction system are therefore not part of the scope of delivery. The first image is a manufacturer illustration of the ShapeSmart NP5 series; the further photos show the actual machine offered, as it stands before dismantling.

Machine strengths
  • Pinch/peel process: roughing and finishing wheels engage the workpiece simultaneously — high concentricity and short cycle times in a single pass
  • Glass scales on both grinding axes with 0.00005 mm resolution — diameter control and interpolation accuracy on tapers and radii
  • Fifth axis: besides round geometries, flats, hexagons and non-concentric cam profiles can be ground
  • Integrated three-axis loading robot with a capacity of up to 1,000 blanks and a changeover time to a different shank diameter of about 10 minutes
  • Up to 10 different tool geometries programmable in one setup — small batch sizes without re-fixturing
  • 8.5 kW roughing spindle with Ø 250 mm wheel: at 7,600 rpm this gives roughly 99 m/s peripheral speed — the spindle is designed for vitrified and metal-bonded diamond wheels and is run down via the frequency converter for resin-bonded wheels
  • Original Rollomatic factory invoice issued for this machine — version and equipment are documented, not derived from a brochure
Typical applications
  • Grinding blanks for solid carbide drills and end mills to shank and cutting diameter
  • Micro drills and miniature tools from Ø 0.025 mm
  • Precision punches and blanking punches for tool and die making
  • Mould and ejector pins for mould making
  • Step tools, tapers and radii via multiple passes
  • Flats, hexagons and non-round profiles via the fifth axis
Scope of delivery
  • Machine complete: machine base, full splash guard, control cabinet, pneumatic unit, operator panel with 15" screen and PC keyboard
  • GE FANUC 320iA control with 8 axes, Rollomatic NanoGrind operator interface on PC
  • P4Smart software for offline programming and simulation
  • Roughing station with 8.5 kW spindle (90° version) and finishing station with 1.4 kW direct-drive spindle, both with PerfectArbor mount
  • Monoblock shank guide with pneumatic pressure lever
  • Workhead with W20 collet mount
  • Integrated three-axis loading robot with base plate for Rollomatic cassettes
  • Cassettes and collets belonging to the machine — the exact scope will be listed bindingly at the time of dispatch
  • Transport-safe packing on a wooden pallet, loading onto your truck included
  • Coolant filtration/chiller unit and extraction system are not part of the scope of delivery — at the previous owner both were centrally implemented
  • Fire suppression system and grinding wheels are not part of the scope of delivery
